Module Overview

Digital Marketing, Campaigns and Techniques introduces students to basic marketing concepts and how marketing ideas are developed creatively. Students will explore graphic advert design, webpage design, social media marketing, and the digital tools used in today’s workplace, including presentations, videos and AI.

The module also introduces students to guerrilla marketing, alternative communication, websites, email marketing, mobile marketing and practical campaign execution. As one of the generic modules shared across the BCom qualification family, this module provides introductory knowledge and digital skills that apply across modern commerce.

POSITION OF THIS MODULE
IN THE DEGREE

This module must be completed as one of the first four modules so that students can confidently choose between a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting, Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and the Bachelor of Commerce qualification curricula. It provides introductory knowledge and digital skills that apply across modern commerce.

By introducing students to digital marketing, creative campaign development, social media, guerrilla marketing and workplace tools such as presentations, videos and AI, the module helps students build confidence as future marketers and understand the role of marketing in commercial enterprises.

By the end of this module, students will be able to:

  • Understand the nature and basic concepts of marketing, including positioning, segmentation and targeting.
  • Understand and plan guerrilla marketing campaigns and alternative communication.
  • Analyse the effectiveness of digital marketing via websites, email and mobile marketing.
  • Demonstrate the use of tools such as presentations, videos and AI when preparing proposals.
  • Be creative on social media.
  • Practically plan and execute a guerrilla marketing project or social media campaign.
